Removing silicone

I am aware that DIY stores sell silicone removal solutions. I want to remove the silicone from my shower and put a new layer on.

Are these removal kits effective?

yes but not magic. it will probably take several applications, scraping off the softened stuff each time.

They are only intended to remove smears after manually removing the majority.A sharp bevelled wood chisel is good at removing.

take a stanley knife to it, or a scrapper, i did and it comes off quite easily...................
