I am buying a totally original timewarp 30's house, downstairs the original plaster on the walls has been chamfered into the ceilings. I'd like to remove it so that I can put up proper fibrous art deco style cornice. Is there an easy way? or will it be hours of arm aching fun with my mate the club hammer?

you may find the reason why you have skielings in the 1st place is they form part of the roof??

As the problem is downstairs, disguising the fact that the rafters cut through the ceiling/wall junction (skielings) does not apply. It's a simple case of someone back when the house was built running cornice without a stepped edge! trouble is, I don't like the look of it and want to put up something more visually pleasing...............but I want the easiest way to remove the old stuff
