Removing wallpaper before plastering - help!

Hi, I have a plasterer coming to skim my living room. I'm removing the old lining paper and wondered two things:
1) will i need to sugar soap to remove any lingering wallpaper paste?
2) there seems to be plenty of polyfiller on the wall - will the plaster be ok being applied over that?

Paste comes of better if you wet it well, and use a wide scraping knife. You'll be surprised how much comes off.
