render mix

i need to render an outside brick wall but i'm unsure of what mix to use. i've been doing internal plaster work for a couple of years but not really done any rendering since i did a course in 2006 so cant remember what mix to use. from the stuff i've read on the net there is a lot of variation in different mixes.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
