Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to calculate 50 square meters at 16mm thick plastersand render and cement. I can buy the plaster sand in tonne bags.

best to buy in bags m8,then the gauge is more even,id have a guess at 30 sand 6 cement,an a bag of lime or 2,bag more cement if no lime :)
 
50 ms x 16mm = 0.8 metre cube. As density of sand can vary so much due to moisture content, assume density of 1300kg per mc = 1040kg or 1040 tonne sand.
Note! when you see tonne bags of sand for sale they do not normally contain a tonne but only 850kg. The tonne is for lifting purposes and carriage rates.
The density of cement is 2/3 more than lime.
Therefore, for a 1-1-5 mix you will need 1050kg sand, 275kg dust and 100kg lime. You may be couple bags short at end.
