Hi all, 1880s house, i've removed the chimney where it is a single skin of bricks between mine and neighbours flues, while the rest of the wall is double brick thick, so i have to fill 50-60mm plus broadly and more in some areas, on a plus side there are a few half bricks sticking out which i guess helps it all stay on. Where the flue was one side looks like had a few fires over the years. Crimped wire wheel on angle grinder didn't touch it but got all the loose soot off. Any thoughts on best way to approach this? A knot wire wheel might get through it but wondering as its so hard on if some undercoat can be used instead. Also in terms of deep filling what is the smart way to go? Any wisdom gratefully received!
