Hello,

I have a newly plaster boarded kitchen area I wish to render. As this is France I would like a rough "French" finish.
I would like some advice on mixture of sand/cement/lime etc.,
I don't need a smooth finish it needs to be looking like it is covering an old wall, i.e. undulating rough etc.,
They sell a product called 'Crepi' here in France which, as a result of research is a mixture of emulsion paint and sand but takes ages to dry.
So I think I need a mixture that can be troweled and then sponged.
Can anyone help??
:? :?

On the fixed plaster board staple a membrane - roofing felt is fine.

Now staple chicken wire thro the membrane into the plaster board.

Use a two coat render in a 3:1 mix of sand & cement.

As the second coat sets, use a wood or plastic float to rub up for whatever kind of finish you want. You can even use a short off-cut of 2" x 4" as a float.
