lime bedded or cement?
damp proof course, injected or neither?
is the wall Flat or bent?

If its flat and solid 9 inch ? dot and dab with thermaback plus and tape it if you are a novice ;)
hi , its a old lime stone wall about 2 ft thick facing stone all clean in a living room
lime stone bedded but pointed with sand and cement
no danp proof or injeced damp proof
faily flat for a old wall

thanks for the info, now i can help.

You have 5 if not more options,

1: as it is solid it is loosing energy, fix 75mm batons to the wall at 400mm centres, put 50mm cellotex in with a 25mm gap, staple a vapour barrier to the studs, 12.5mm board, tape and skim.

2: dot and dab thermaback plus boards to the wall, tape and skim

3: 2 coat lime render and lime set so it breaths (not such a good u value)

4: Limelight backing coat and limelight skim coat ( has some u value)

5: chemical inject a dpc and render and set ( use sulphate resisting cement)

option 1, but dont attach to the wall, just fix the head and sole plates

even better :) put head and sole plates 25mm away from the wall, still use 75mm cls then you can up your cellotex to 75mm (mmmmmm! toasty)
