I've just built a garage and want to cement render the exterior for painting.

What cement/sand mix should I use?

Thanks.

Mix proportions for render are as follows - scratch coat -1 Cement to 5 sand and 1 lime. mix to a nice consistency. Top coat - 1 cement, 6 sand and 1 Hydrated Lime, your top coat is always thinner and weaker than the scratch, this prevents the top coat being dragged from the wall and falling off. alway protect your render from the elements for the 1st 36 hours. damp down the render if it looks like it is drying out to fast this will prevent cracking / crazing of the material.

Good Luck

:)
