Hi everyone,

I am planning to repaint my staircase which has been painted with an oil based gloss and am wanting to redo it with a water based satinwood finish (small kids in the house so a quick drying time is needed and prefer the look of satinwood).

Would it be okay to put a few coats of the satinwood after giving the gloss a light sanding?

Thanks in advance! :D

A bridging coat is best really, coverstain is perfect. Regardless you need to give it a good rub down first whichever way you do it

Thanks, will do what was suggested! Any recommendations on a hard wearing satinwood paint?
