Got to repair the bottom of this architave. I was going to cut the bit already there into a nice straight edge somehow then screw in the patch bit at the bottom. Filler over screws

Replacing the whole lot could cause more problems I heard IMG-20200106-WA0001.jpg IMG-20200106-WA0000.jpg IMG-20200106-WA0001.jpg IMG-20200106-WA0000.jpg

I would suggest you call in a handyman to sort it out,

As foxhole says replacing the whole length from the mitre at the top is not a major job.

I was worried I'd damage the wall behind levering it out. How would the new one be attached? Just with no nails or any screws?

Before that, run a sharp Stanley blade down each side of the architrave. I forgot on a couple of frames, and the additional filling of missing paint chunks was a pain in the arse I don't want to deal with again!
