I had a new front door fitted. My builder proposed to repair my doorway with a pole filler. What is a pole filler?

I would ask my builder but his English is basic and he isn't very clear at the best of times.

Can someone explain what is a pole filler? Or does he mean polifilla?

Also how could I prevent the joing from cracking? I used caulk in the past around my windows and after w hold a crack formed. I'd rather not use and architrave.

I guess you mean polyfilla.
Polyfilla is not as good as some other modern fillers imo.
Use toupret powder filler. 2kg box will do.
Masking tape will keep the door clean and stop any accidental scratching.
Fill. Sand.
You will need a trim of wood or plastic especially on the right side to bridge door edge as that will always crack.
Stick on with with something like stixall

Thanks Wayners.

Unfortunately the installer used insulation foam that stuck to the painted doorframe, mostly at the bottom. Is there a way of removing it without damaging/scratching the doorframe paint?

TIA

Why didn't they finish off with a trim or filler?
Looks ok.
When the foam is cut off and filled with a trim it will be fine.
