Filling plaster by front door

Hi all,

The plaster around myfront door has cracked away in places. and i have used pollyfiller to fill them. (I did this yesterday afternoon and still havent sanded it flush))
today the front door slammed shut due to the wind and a fair bit of the filler fell out, and the cracks are showing again.

have i used wrog filler or just been unlucky ( or done it wrong)
if i have used the wrong filler what would you advise I use

The fame is moving, fit heavy duty fixings into the frame/brickwork.

You can drill right through the frame and into the wall the you bang em in with a hammer throught the frame and into the wall. They have a screw head on em so you can remover them in the future if required.
