I have recently moved house. The existing hall thermostat for the heating is about as old as the house - maybe 25 years. It's a Honeywell rotary dial type and buzzes and gets stuck around 20 deg C. I want to replace this with a digital thermostat like:

Thermsaver Celect Digital Room Thermostat Stat DRT-1
(I wanted a Drayton one, but they don't seem to do them anymore)
I don't need the programming bit - just the thermostat.

I can't get the cover off the old one without breaking it to see what the wiring is like. Can someone tell me - is it a straightforward replacement? I'm expecting to only see two wires. Can I replace this old one with a new digital one?

Many thanks :D

Drayton are seriously concerned that you think they no longer make a wide range of digital thermostats.

The old ones had a heat anticipator which required a neutral connection.

The digital ones are battery operated and just use the two connections, live and call for heat.

There is no definate colour code and they need testing but usually they are wired with red as live and yellow as call for heat with the blue as neeutral.

OK - comment accepted, sorry. What I mean is they no longer do the one I liked with the +/- buttons.

Thanks for your help :)

Just tried to re-wire the thermostat. Have blown on fuse on the central heating somewhere. The programmer next to the boiler no longer lights up.
Have checked all the fuses i can find - even the one in the boiler on the PCB. Can anyone help before the wife kills me!

Sorted - there was a fused switch hidden behind some coats! It's a new house so I had no idea! Panic over. :D

I've just bought a Celect DRT1 to replace old Sunvic TLM.

The block connections are NO NC and COM. They also indicate you need to fit a Heating / Cooling jumper bridge otherwise it wont work. I've no idea how to do that and is it really necessary?

Any thoughts on how to make this work, all the adverts for the Celect just say easy two wire connection.

Regards
