Hi all.

I have a 1 gang switch operating the main light in my bedroom.

I am replacing the central light with an arrangement or GU10 downlighters recessed into the ceiling, I would like them to be controlled by 2 switches, so I can have the ones around the outside of the room switched independantly of the ones in the centre of the room.

Can I safely replace the 1 gang switch with a 2 gang switch to achive this?

I was thinking of spliting taking an extra supply from the ceining rose junction to the switch, then running an extra wire from the switch to the lights would do the trick.

As there is a live taken to the switch you only need an additional switched live to the new lights.

Using a draw tape or fish you might be lucky and be able to pull a single and earth into the channel to the lights.
