Hi all,
I have a leaky radiator in my spare room and it's off at the minute, however I am looking to replace this at the weekend. I have noticed that both the microbore pipes are on the same side (i.e. they come through the floor together and go in to what looks like a double in valve).
Can anyone tell me what this configuration is and how easy is it to change to a "normal" radiator with one pipe each side (or do I even need to do that - can I just use the pipe config as it is with a new radiator)?

Many thanks all

That is known a a twin or dual entry valve and is not compatible with modern radiators because the old rad would have a tube fitted to the old valve and inserted along the bottom void to spread the flow of water.
Modern rads will not accommodate this tube and therefore new rad valves must be fitted and the pipework altered to suit.

Thanks, so if I extend the outlet pipe across to where I need it and fit a new valve at either end this would solve my problem?
Just never seen this type of rad before.

Had a look around and I'm looking to use the following, can anyone confirm if this is a good/correct set-up please?

Kudox Premium Double Radiator 600x1000
Drayton RT212 TRV and Lock Shield 15mm

I'm going to take the old return pipe and bend it through 45 degrees, couple it to another piece of 8mm microbore using a straight compression coupling and run it to where needed, place a straight 15x8 compression reducer on the end to connect to the Lock Shield and the same at the flow pipe to connect to the TRV...

Does this sound right or have I got something wrong here?

Thanks in advance

Sounds fair enough. You can get that the valves in 8mm which would do away with the reducer.

Thanks, the local supplier that I'm getting the kit from only have the valve in 15mm. Is it better to use an 8mm valve or is it just easier not to have to use an additional step in placing a reducer in?

Not really better just would have saved using a reducer. 15mm is still ok.

Thanks Denso, I had another look around and although I wanted to shop local, I have managed to get an 8mm valve (Danfoss RAS-C2) and LS (and for less which keeps the wife happy) on the interweb.
Also got Delonghi radiators which sound like they may be better than the Kudox ones...
Any views on that?

Thanks

All went extremely well - against even my own expectation.
So a big thanks to those that replied and set most of my mind at ease about what I was doing and how.

Cheers
