I've just moved into a 1930's detached house where the ground floor is wooden (really old planks) and about 18 inches above ground. Basically the whole downstairs is freezing and doesn't really warmup. Also my survey stated that the joists had some sort of infestation and the whole lot had to be replaced. So having negotiated a discount on the house, I am now looking into doing the work myself. I have tackled most DIY jobs but this is my frist time doing a complete floor. So I am looking for some documentation around how to tackle this job and can't find any 'guides'. Any pointers appreciated as I like to do quite a lot of research before tackling a large job.

If you are going to remove the entire downstairs floors including the joists, why dont you put a DPM down, Insulation, and flood with concrete?

No more infestation and a nice insulated floor with no drafts.
