Things to watch out for -

Screw holes will probably not line up so you will have to drill new fixing holes.
If your old vent pipe comes out the top, then it may reach the new hood - check before you buy. If the old pipe goes straight out of the wall then you definately need to get a new hood that has the hole in the about the same place - otherwise a new hole in the wall is a big messy job.

Width-wise, you need to fill in the space between the hood and adjacent cupboards if possible to prevetn fumes going up the sides.
