Replacing bitumen with box profile roofing sheets

Helping someone to replace his roofing sheet over garage. Can someone advice whether its easy to work with a full length of 12' sheet as opposed to 2 x 6'.
Would there be any issues just putting the box profile on bitumen sheet to save removing them. currently there 2x16 bitumen sheets on each side of the roof.
