Hi Guys
Wonder if you can help me, I need to replace the swtiches for the landing light, there is a switch for it downstairs and one upstairs as you would expect, therefore do I need to buy 2x two way switches?

i dont really know the difference between a 2 way and a 1 way, but assumed a 2 way was the one i needed as they both control it, am i right?

Thanks guys for your help

Darren

yep, you are not wrong

gang is the number of buttons
way is, well way.

A 1 way switch will have only 2 terminals and enable a light to be switched correctly from only 1 position.
A 2 way switch has 3 terminals and is used for 2 way switching (it can be used as a 1 way also)

A 2 gang switch is a plate switch with 2 switches on it.These are usually 2 way as standard.

If your light switches from 2 positions then you will need two 2 way switches but bear in mind one or both of these might be part of a 2 gang switch depending on your lighting arrangements.

Thanks for that guys, both the switches are single gang? is that correct? but both are two way, i hope im using the correct phrasing - they phsyically have one switch and both control the light therefore 2 X two way switches is what i require.

Thanks guys for your help, always good to double check :-)
