Replacing side hung friction hinges for top hung possible???

Hi

i have a window with a broken hinge, the window uses side hung friction hinges the size is 10" long but all the places i have tried you can only get 12" or 16" side hung.

Can i use 10" top hung friction hinges or are they a different spec?

Sure you can't get a 12 inch hinge in there?. That said I think top hung should still be ok
