Hi
I am after some opinions on suitable foundation for a retaining wall for this area

I was originally going to go for a foundation similar to a house but not as deep. Plan is using block and brick with wall ties every course solid ( no cavity). Talking to a builder friend he said just use foundation ( trench) (300mm wide) blocks the 7n type and sink them in the clay and build from this.
I am concerned if this is structurally sound enough? The wall will be jsut under a metre tall and around 10m long with corners.

Many thanks

You would need to construct a proper stepped (ie wide) foundation out of brick or block, not just plonk trench blocks in the trench.

Yeah thanks Woody. This is what I suspected and think would happier with a proper concrete found in.
