Hello, when I moved into my house I installed into my daughters attic ceiling 4 off light fittings that each had 3 LED's in, Red, Green & Blue.
They are cabled so that Ic an access each LED separately &the cables all come down into the eves ready for an interface to make them work.

A colleague who was our aged hardware designer was going to design me an interface that would allow them to be used as ordinary lighting with colour changing (mood lighting) also with an interface to allow a musical input (mic pickup) from my daughters HiFi so that she would also have disco effect lighting.

Unfortunately my colleague has just passed away (Cancer). As much as I mourn the loss it has left me (or should I say "her") with 4 light fittings not being used & not interface.

From what I see my options are to either pull them out & replace them with conventional 1 colour fittings or come up with some other form of driver interfaces for them.

With all your experience of fitting lighting etc has anyone any suggestions or ideas where I can get a driver (4 off) for these LED lights?

I have tried Dealextreme, Maplin & google - all to no avail..

Thank you.

It's all in the words- I tried disco lighting and found:-

My LED's have nothing connected to them except wires.

I take it the mrresistor linked part would need to be duplicated 4 times, 1 per fitting?

If its going to cost anything like the suggested bits so far then i'll just rip them out & replace with ordinary lights. Wile I don't mind making my own controllers, pcbs' etc I'd like to keep this as low cost as possible. :D

If you are competant with simple electronics try searching some of the electronics magazines or forums for circuits.

Nope - if you bought that unit and the 40W driver that is listed on the same page, you should be fine unless your LED's are more than 10W each (most unlikely)

Basically, you would need the driver, the controller and the remote. It totals about £100

You still need to identify exactly what your LED's are though. The kits I linked to might not be suitable.

Brilliant link that one - I've seen it before but didn't remember about it earlier.

ISTR that they are 1w & just need a constant current to drive them.

Methinks I'll have to take one down & have a look :D

Cheers for the above links.
