Roof repair - worth replacing render with coping stones

Hi

We're about to bite the bullet and replace our terraced house roof tiles and give it a complete refreshment. At the back of the house there's a brick-on-side parapet wall, and at the front of the house it's a rendered brickwork (photos attached).

Our roofer has quoted to replace these with coping stones, which sounds like a good idea, however things with our neighbour are already complicated and it's a shared wall so we'd need them on board. Question is, will just refreshing / replacing with like for like on the parapet walls be good enough, or is it worth a load of effort and back and forth with neighbour to get his consent and replace with coping stones?

We've already had a bit of a nightmare getting the neighbour to consent to works removing the rear chimney stack so are keen not to engage unless it's really worth it.

Thanks

Its a shared wall you will need neighbours permission to do any work on it.
Don't use the same people who installed the velux windows.

The old veluxes were done by the previous owner I think - right dog's dinner. We've been saving up to completely redo the roof and here we go. If we can get the neighbour to the rights permission to top the rendered parapet with coping stones, is it worth doing?
