You shouldn't use a thermostat without a timer. Will waste energy.

Nevertheless, to answer your question;

Remove boiler link 3 to 4.

Thermostat 1 to boiler 3 (Live)
Thermostat 2 to boiler 4 (Live)
Thermostat 4 to boiler 5 (Neutral)

Sleeve live cables with brown marker, neutral cables with blue.

As your diagram says, the thermostat should be earthed.

can you not plug a compatible vaillant clock into the front facia of the boiler to give you correct htg control and then wire in your room thermostat :?:

much better off with a programmable stat such as the honeywell cm927, or even the Vaillant vrt360 specifically designed for this boiler.

Thanks a lot for your help guys appreciate what you say about a timer but we have heating on from when we get up till we go to bed anyway so never used the timer on the old boiler anyway.

regards :D
