Rotten Sash Window

Hi guys,

We have a broken window in a sash.. I took the old pane out but when doing so the wood that holds the window in broke off and revealed a rotten mess underneath.

I'm not quite sure what to do now as we really need to take the most cost effective way of repairing as money is tight right now...

How much would this cost for a carpenter to restore it?

How long is a piece of string?
Hard to say really without pictures as it's hard to judge the extent of work needed or the materials needed. It may only be a couple of hours work but then again it may involve rebuilding the sash.
