I have a problem with upvc windows in front bay installed 1991. Ground and first floor have a single vertical bar across a 3m window. Ground floor you can see window lines droops slightly either side of the vertical bar, nothing obvious for first floor but recently put up striped curtains and the stripe tilted towards centre of window suggesting same issue there too.

i've just requested advice from structural engineers to assess and suggest solution rather than going straight to a window company or builder.

Does anyone have any experience of dealing with this sort of problem and any pitfalls for me to avoid ?[/b]

Take out the top bead and pack the frame off the glass, you can get packers from Screwfix, Toolstation etc. I am assuming the bay has been fitted correctly with bay jacks etc.

does this mean theres a vertical bar in the centre, and the horizontal bars fall down slightly to the baypoles at the corners each side?

Thanks for the replies. The structural engineer has visited and i await his report. His view is the uPvc frames are poor quality and have warped out of shape. No evidence of structural damage as such ie no cracking of rough cast.

Yes, there is a vertical bar in the centre of the which runs 3/4 the height of the window, it then branches into a t-shape horizontal bar, with three opening windows above it. The horizontal droops slightly either side where it meets the vertical. The opening frame of the middle window catches the static part of the frame at the bottom, the other windows are fine.

Most replacement windows now for our street have 5 individual windows across the bay - thats much more vertical support than mine has.
