If I set a screen-lock password on this tablet, would I be able to go back to not using a password in the future, if I wish to? I can not find any information on this point. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

Yes if it's android . You can go into settings and security and remove the password by setting security back to none. If you have a windows version the same is also possible.
