Sand cement mix - gully benching

Hi

what is the best sand cement mix for benching round a gully? i.e. i need something that will not allow/restrict water to pass through so it will run off the surface into the gully.

what is the best type of sand? sharp sand or building sand or other?

what mix ratio?

I would guage some soft in with it to fill the gaps in the aggregate but either would sufice. this time of year, use a frost proofer to drive the water out quicker.. its getting parky
