Sand for lawn

Im very new to gardening, and when I first bought my house the lawn was very mossy, so I removed a lot of it and added new seed and its coming along very nicely. However someone mentioned that sand is very good for lawns, especially as mine is not pefectly level.

Is this right?

i beleive not

you can however make holes in the lawn with a fork and brush sand into these holes, its for improving drainage

I believe it's sharp sand for a good drainage(?)

If the lawn is okay, i would not add just sand, i would top dress with something else depending on soil type. possibly a mixture one of which could be sand.if you are new to gardening you could to more harm than good.
