Can anyone tell me what this does?

Satchwell control actuator type sm for use with 3 wire control and it is conected to a hot water pipe in one of my cupboards but the wires have been cut.

There's this amazing thing called google and when i typed "Satchwell control actuator type sm" it came up with this.

It is the same site which i got straight away.

I was trying to find one identical to the the one i have, that is why i asked the question in the first place.
