I have through the help of those on this site come to the realisation that a 10 mm2 cable is inadequate for my 10.8kw shower with cables in a wall.

Can I add another 10 mm cable or do I have to buy a new 16mm2 cable?

Many Thanks for the help so far

Please see 10mm sq post, I don't think you need it if you change your instalation method

If your think of doubling the cable, don't. It might not be outside the best practices, but have some common sense.

Using one cable of the correct size, is the only way.

I'd love to see how you'd terminate 4x 10mm² cables in a shower isolator!!

I'd love to see you get a single 16 sq mm cable into the average shower enclosure and terminals.

There is always a way round the de-rating effects of insulation.

I think my post was a little too easy to misinterpret so I will rephrase:

If you are putting the cable under insulation that is more than 100mm thick then you will need to use 16mm² t&e. If you pull it clear and clip it to the joists so that it is not surrounded by insulation then your 10mm² t&e is fine.
