Is this for scaffolding? I use Kwick stage and find that very good more expensive though.

Local has always meant expensive for me. And when you have to ask the price it's usually too much anyway. I noticed all the above online places are based further north, I thought it would be interesting for people to see where they were based, so they can compare the widely varying delivery costs!

It's not for scaffolding, it's for various small projects .

I'm sure they are all very nice people, no comment about that! One thing I didn't put down was delivery times which also vary, but for me that doesn't matter, e.g. Actavodirect had a 6-10 day delivery option for £25, others are next-day.

If it's not for use at height......get down the local scrap yard
Or phone round local scaffolding companies and ask if they sell off ex hire stuff cheap

Or keep an eye on gumtree
