I have just fitted the exact model and size heating element in my LG washing machine. Turned it on and a horrible metallic scraping/knocking sound coming from the back of the drum. No loose objects or anything in the machine so what on earth can it be ? This wasn't happening when it was last turned on.

I shall take out the element (a real pain) and turn it again to see if it still happens to eliminate it. If it doesn't do it when removed it is obviously the cause but why would it do this being the same size element?

Problem solved. I hadn't got the element in the small metal housing. I'm a Muppet!
