Hello All
I am going to begin putting up the new boards onto my ceiling this weekend / next week.
As the old cornice is staying where it is and the old ceiling has already come down.
So i need to put in some bits of wood between the first joist and the one under the cornice so we can screw the plasterboard onto at the edges
is there a bracket made for this or do i just screw them in?

Thanks so much

not quite sure what you mean

if you have removed lath and plaster you will need to pad out all timbers to make the face flush to the old level

Hi Sorry what i meant was if you look at the pic below we are going to screw up 2x12.mm boards but the original coving is on the first joist so i wanted to put some noggins between the joist to support the new boards as they cannot go into the first one

What was there originally, support/timber?
Are the joist continued in the next room and assessible?
If so timbers can then be fitted across them at the correct depth.
