Sealing Fresh Plaster

What's the best way to seal a freshly plastered wall. I've been told to use a cheap emulsion or to use PVA (5 parts water/1 part PVA).

Providing the plaster is fully dry, 5:1 water:PVA always works for me.
 
PVA - much faster than painting (can do an average sized room in an hour if one works like a beast! :D), and cheaper than the cheapest of emulsion.
