Hi,

I have a uPVC back door which only has the standard lock and opens outwards (looks like it would be easy to lever it open). I think it's vulnerable and was wondering what I can do to make it more secure. Can rack bolts be fitted to uPVC doors?

Mike

Almost impossible to fit rack bolts due to the aluminium section inside the door.....if the door doesn't use a eurolock system which shoots pins into the bottom and top of the frame, you could consider changing your existing lock for a 5 lever dead locking type, or, if you want extra bolts maybe Yale multi purpose door bolts would do (Screwfix 58633) but again you could have problems with the fixing. However I have had success with these - but it takes a bit of luck for the self tapping screws to engage with the door internal structure.
Cheers John
