Hello everyone.
6 months ago i had a worcester 24i junior combi installed. I have had an engineer out for the third time to change a seized pump. The last engineer said that a lack of inhibitor could be the problem. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?
Thanks.

The problem will be because your installer did not clean the system properly. It should have been power flushed with the appropriate chemicals and left with an inhibitor.

You are very lucky if Worcester have covered that under the warranty! It would normally be chargeable.

Presumably you either employed a non CORGI installer or refused to pay for it to be power flushed?

If you add inhibitor to a dirty system, you're wasting time and money - the corrosion products in the system 'use up' its chemical efect very fast.

As Tony says, the primary cause is probably muck in the system but you need inhibitor in there too after it's been flushed.

Sorry, i should have said this is a complete new system installed. The boiler is supplying 5 radiators but only 2 are used at any one time. The boiler does not have a room thermostat but has thermostatic valves fitted to all radiators. I hope this information helps with any advice you can give.
Thanks

Since the system should have a room stat you are giving evidence that the installer was incompetent!

He clearly did not treat the water according to the British Standard and presumably was not CORGI registered and did not complete the Benchmark Certificate or notify CORGI of the installation.

Did you choose him because he was the cheapest?

If you pay peanuts you get m.....

If an aggressive soldering flux were used and not neutralised with chemicals, it would still be attacking system components at a rapid rate. Radiators can perforate in 6 months, making a lot of rustlike sludge which clos everything.

Thanks for the info. I will refill the system, add inhibitor and have a room thermostat fitted.
