During some time off next week I am planning on adding electrics to my shed. An electrician has added a fused spur from the house and left the cable tied outside the house ready for me to dig a hole for the armoured cable. I won't go into details but I am now planning on finishing the job myself so I have a couple of questions that I am hoping that you may be able to answer for me:-

1. Where the cable comes out of the house, I was planning on fitting a junction box to connect to the armoured cable, but suddenly thought I could add an outside socket. Therefore, can I join the cables but wiring both into the socket rather thank fitting an additional junction box or would this best practice?
2. My armoured cable is 4mm2 but noticed that a lot of junction boxes are rated up to 2.5mm2 cable! Does this mean that I have bought the wrong cable?

Many thanks for any assistance.

Regards, Paul.

When you apply for Building Regulations approval, what do you plan to say will be the way you'll comply with P1?

You didn't ask about testing.

Is that because you have the right equipment, and know how to use it, or because you don't know that testing will be needed?

No, it means you've bought the wrong junction box.
