Shingles vaccine for our older members

Never having a typhoid vax again, after it put me in bed for a week. So does that make me an antivaxer
I had a similar experience with a typhoid jab many years ago. Back when certain jabs in order to travel had to be obtained from the British Airways medical service in Regent Street, London. Still have my yellow ICV !

Turns out it was an experimental type and was later withdrawn due to excess deaths/side effects.

I get accused of being an anti-vaxxer because I didn't have any covid jabs since imo they were experimental...

I will still however have other jabs if I deem them to be safe or necessary.

"The unexplained connection between shingles vaccination and lowered dementia risk matters for several reasons: it highlights the power of “natural studies”, which harness mass observational data; it shows how repurposing vaccines and therapies can offer hope where novel offerings are falling short; it implicates viruses in neurodegenerative diseases; and it reveals the potential wider gains of vaccination at a time when public confidence is wobbling."

I wonder if it explains why so many antivaxxers are barmy.
The existence of unexplained (positive) effects only proves that vaccines have unexpected side-effects.

The research would have all been paid for by the company flogging the stuff.

DYOR and don't assume that "they" know best or are only interested in your welfare.

You lose all credibility by referring to anyone who questions what they're told by massive multinationals with an obvious vested interests as "antivaxxers".

The world's far more complex than your limited understanding allows.

I've no idea whether I would or wouldn't get a shingles jab if it was relevant, as I don't need to think about it. But if I did then I'd be looking at the evidence, not listening to some muppet on the interweb calling anyone names if they choose to actually read up on what gets injected into their body.

You lose all credibility by throwing in false allegations, and trying to suggest that an individual antivaxxer like yourself, browsing conspiracy websites, is equivalent to, or better than, sound scientific research by reputable groups examining large datasets of high quality data.

"DYOR"

Oh, you've read it on the BBC as well, have you?

I'm not seeking to change your mind, obviously.

But I will comment on the defects in your claims and allegations.

Oh right, Wikipedia then, even worse. It doesn't matter what source, everyone should question everything - find out its source and who's funding it. Then make your own mind up and don't listen to idiots lobbing insults at those who choose to think for themselves.

You were in a privileged position to refuse, I was forced to have it. However I did refuse as long as I could until AstraZeneca was offered and I had that. As that was based on older tech.

Stupid boy.

I quoted the source on my post. And two researchers' names.

Can't you read?

And you have not mentioned any source for your made-up allegations.

I provided a link to explain Epidemiology to anybody who doesn't know how it works.

You, for example.

You've lost the argument as soon as you start with the playground stuff.

I've said I'd read things and find out IF it was relevant to me. But it isn't so obviously I haven't.

But I wouldn't take any notice of any random nutter on the internet telling anyone who hesitates in any way that they're an "anti-vaxxer", as that's just utterly brainless.

Obviously I usually try to ignore you.

But you chose to post your false and unsubstantiated allegations.

So you chose to contradict from a position of deliberate ignorance.
