Hi all, installed a new strip light but the wires on the new one went in at the end instead of centre. I now need to chase the wire through the ceiling. It's only around 24" away. Any tips for doing this with as least mess as poss please? (See pic) Ps. Yes I know I should have done the chasing first but it's been done so that for now the light works. The chasing can be done another time.

Have you thought about cutting a hole in the centre of the light fitting?

Probably you bought an under cupboard light and not a light designed for ceiling mounting, but you are here now. Which way do the joists run? You may not need to chase the ceiling all the way across at all. cut a small hole in ceiling at the cable entry end and use a length of stiff wire to try and probe to the light centre. then you will need to make a join and this junction will go in the ceiling. This will mean that you will need a maintenance free junction box. What this is will depend on how many wires are involved.
