shower leak

my shower unit is in upstairs bathroom.
unscrewed drain hole in shower basin.(silly me i unscrewed the sealed part)
water leaked all over floor of bathroom and down to ground floor.
what should i do next.

bead of plumbers mait round the joint between the trap and the tray and screw it back up.

NB that's UNDER the tray! There should bea rubber gasket there. I hate plumbers mate - there's nearly always something better. I'd clean it as well as possible then use some LS-X external leak sealer.

Bythe way if you have the standard shower waste/trap, take the hex grille out, then the white tube bit which has the bar across, the put the grille back. The bottom end of the tube fits to the grille bit so you have something to turn it with.
