Hi, I'm getting confused re protrusion of fittings out of stud wall for the shower mixer tap unit.
I've got the elbow fittings to be mounted on board or stud and mixer units provided double threaded pieces that fit into the elbow on the board. Obviously I have to position this board so that the correct amount of protrusion sticks out from the tile to fit the mixer unit.
How much should I allow into the equation as the double threaded pieces pass through 10mm backerboard, tile and adhesive. Tile is 9mm and I've read that with a 12mm notched float, the adhesive will be compressed to half that ie. 6mm. So 10mm + 9mm + 6mm = 25mm.
Does that sound right, it's more the depth of adhesive behind the 60 x 30mm tile that seems a lot to me.
