My gainsborough electric shower is not heating the water and there is power to the pull cord. It is quite old and i was just wondering is there any checks i could do or should i just buy a new one.

If when you turn it on water still comes thru but its cold its probably the heat element that's gone. You could check the switch for the low med high settings is properly aligned, sounds like a silly thing but twice now I've visited someones house to find the switch has come off and been put back indicating the wrong setting.
