Shower problem

Hello everybody

I have a query I'd like to ask please:

I have a shower and no water is coming from it but the pipes to it are ok as the hot water taps and cold water from the tank are fine

I have heard there are check valves on a lot of showers - where do you find these, are they in the unit?

Please help !
