Just replaced shower pull switch. When I switched the power supply back on at the consumer unit to the shower circuit the indicator light was lit faintly even though there is no power to shower. When I pull the switch the indicator light shines brighter and the power is on to the shower and it works OK. I have obviously wired it incorrectly, what have i done wrong. Thanks

Probably wired L in and N out to the mains, with L out and N in the the shower. Should be easy enough to check.

Can you enlighten us why, please

240V one one side of the neon. Capacitive coupling via the shower heater to earth on the other side. Exactly how neon screwdrivers work.

Actually looking at it again probably L out and N in to mains, L in and N out to heater. (got it the wrong way round earlier).
