If getting a wall mounted shower which would drain down into the bath, is there a certain category of shower I should look for if the water is heated by mains gas? It uses a combi boiler.

Or a certain category which is incompatible with mains gas supply?

For example, I've heard that a power shower is not possible with water heated by mains gas.

Can it be thermostatic or electric? Is it gravity-fed?

Thermostatic shower will be okay off a combi-boiler. An electric shower only needs mains cold water feed, so not connected to boiler, but will need an electric supply, normally 10mm twin and earth and RCD protected.

A power shower is fed by gravity hot and cold water.
An electric shower is fed by mains cold water.
A thermostatic/manual mixer shower would be the one to use with a combi mains hot'n'cold water supply.

Mains gas doesn't come into it.
