I am about to install a stone resin shower tray that is 1500mm x 700mm.

The tray needs to be raised from the floor by approximately 100mm.

Is it better to use the plinth kits or to build a plinth from 4"x2" timber topped with 18mm ply?

Thanks

If you can use the timber and make up a platform get it nice and square and level and secured to it's surroundings, then much better IMO.

When installed, finish the front edge of the upstand with flexible 100mm PVC cloaking which can be bought from Wickes/ Eurocell etc.
You can also use PVC quadrant where it meets the floor to make a nice transitional bead. These can be siliconed on to the timber and held in place with weights until cured. It'll work for square and quadrant trays and can be easily removed for future access if you only use Silicone around the perimeter to hold it in place!

And that answers my second question.

Thank you very much.
