Hi,

I've been having some trouble with damp coming up from concrete below carpet throughout downstairs of house. I've ruled out most causes (mains water, tank water, heating system and most of the waste pipes, and it's unlikely to be damp proof membrane). My suspicion is that it is the waste serving the shower in an old bathroom downstairs as this pipe is an offshoot of the pipe that serves the WC and as such was not able to be CCTV surveyed, and when I have tried plugging it from the manhole and filling it with water, it just keeps on taking water.

Anyway, I tried my own version of a CCTV survey up from the manhole, and managed to turn left at the fork off to the shower waste and got a few images of one of the joints. Does this joint look suspect to you? I think it is taken from quite close-up and you can tell the scale by the fact that this is a 4" pipe.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Thanks Andy - The damp is in patches here and there all over the downstairs of the house. I don't know whether this dye would diffuse up through the concrete? I will give it a go anyhow.

Any thoughts on the pics of the 4" waste pipe joint?

Nick
