I HAVE A SIME 'FRIENDLY' WALL MOUNTED BOILER,
WHEN IT COMES ON IN THE MORNING THE PILOT LIGHT LIGHTS AND THE RADIATORS GET WARM AS EXPECTED.HOWEVER ABOUT FIVE MINS LATER THE PRESSURE GAUGE WHICH NORMALLY SITS AROUND 2 SHOOTS UP RIGHT PAST THE RED NEEDLE WHICH IS AT 2.5 AND GOES RIGHT UP TO 4.THE WHOLE THING SWITCHES ITSELF OFF AND THE PILOT LIGHT GOES OUT.IM PRESUMING THIS IS A SAFETY THING?IS MY PRESSURE GAUGE TO HIGH TO START WITH?
XXDUMB BLONDE

The expansion vessel is failed or needs servicing.

Look if the stickey bits at the top of this site for instructions on how youn can try to fix it.

Sounds like it's overheating. Multitude of possible reasons if it takes several minutes to do it though.
